College Entrance Exams & Advanced Placement
PSAT
The PSAT is a practice exam offered by College Board to help you prepare for the SAT. The exam components are:

Math

It is recommended that the test is taken in fall of your junior year to best see strengths and areas in which to improve. The PSAT taken in 11th grade will give you an opportunity to also qualify for the Nation Merit Scholarship.
​
The PSAT can also be taken prior to junior year to help prepare for the junior PSAT and the SAT, but will not be eligible for National Merit Scholarship.
SAT
The SAT is an exam offered by College Board that could be required for college admissions and/or determine placement in college English or Math courses. The exam components are:

It is recommended that the test is taken in the spring of the junior year and/or early fall of senior year.
ACT
The ACT is a national college admissions exam that could be required for college admissions and/or determine placement in college English or Math courses. The exam consists of subject areas in:

Math

Reading
-
Science
-
Essay (Optional)

It is recommended that the test is taken in the spring of the junior year and/or early fall of senior year.
AP
The Advanced Placement (AP) Exams are offered by CollegeBoard to show a student has acquired college level proficiency in particular subjects. If a student earns a 3 or higher on an exam, they may be awarded college credit at their future university or get a course waived.

It is recommended that the test is taken the same year the student has AP course in school.

You do not have to take an AP class to take the AP exam, but Scripps Ranch High School only proctors exams in which the course is taught on the campus.
